Dear Scientists & Colleagues,

The Organizing Committee of the Viet Nam International Conference on Liver Disease Series is pleased to invite you to the inaugural 2022 scientific conference, “HBV, HCV, HDV, and Liver Cancer in Viet Nam: Current Status and Future Directions.”

Liver cancer caused by chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), and hepatitis D virus (HDV) all represent a significant and pressing problem in Viet Nam. Since 2018, liver cancer surpasses lung cancer and becomes the most common cause of cancer death in Viet Nam. The reported incidence of liver cancer in Southern Vietnam, approximately one-half the geographic area of the country, was over 25,000 cases per year, making Viet Nam the fourth-highest liver cancer rate in the world, with an age-adjusted incidence rate of 23.2 cases per 100,000. By comparison, the U.S. has 6.7 cases per 1000,000. It has been projected that viral hepatitis-associated liver cancer disease will continue to rise in the next two decades and beyond if there is no effective national interventional program. 

 

Purposes

In an effort to address gaps and reverse the trends in liver cancer in Viet Nam, we are organizing the inaugural 2022 scientific conference, “HBV, HCV, HDV, and Liver Cancer in Viet Nam: Current Status and Future Directions”  with the following primary objectives: 

  1. To promote elimination initiatives in viral hepatitis, the etiologic determinant of liver cancer in Viet Nam;
  2. To provide a platform to enhance research collaborations between clinicians and researchers in the fields of viral hepatitis and liver cancer, and 
  3. To leverage evidence-based research data to design interventional programs addressing the significant and rising liver cancer disease burden caused by viral hepatitis in Vietnam. 

Format: Hybrid (Offline and Online)

Date/Time: July 28, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (Viet Nam time) 

Venue: Conference Hall, International University, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City
